I think I might have mild-moderate depression, and there is someone at the college where I go who does mental health evaluations, and then I guess decides whether they’re going to refer you to someone. I’m just wondering how this works, its doesn’t sound like a therapy session kind of thing, it sounds like a get to the point kind of thing, what do I need to prepared to answer and say? Thank you.

  1. SwedenHere says:

An evaluation for depression will include asking you questions about your life now and administering a test, probably BDI (Beck’s Depression Inventory).

You spend maybe 15 or 20 mins answering the questionnaire and the person evaluating you will go over your score with you and what it means.

If you’re moderately or severelydepressed, you’ll be referred to a licensed psychologist (or a student near graduation working under an experienced supervisor) and told to talk to your doctor about antidepressants.

    good luck, kiddo

these are not to much of a big thing
even thou people and movies do make them out to be

it not a therapy session but a finding out your symptoms and feelings
your living conditions and family depression history(if any) ect

you may need to fill out questionares and /or answer question in conversation but answer them truthfully or you may end up on a drug you dont need and there help may make things worse

if ya worryied contact the person listed on the appointment letter/notifcation and ask what you are to expect and what you need to prepare and explain you feel worryied about the up and coming appointment
