First of all, mental illnesses are very new, EXTREMELY new. And most things that are new, well we mostly screw up at first. I am not defending psychiatry, but all i am saying is lets take a step back. Lets suppose an individual experiences a really severe case of a mental disorder, like really way out of control. The question therefore is, how do we cope with that. If not psychiatry, then what? What else would one do?

Psychiatry is the best that medical science can offer, if you think it doesn’t work, then go find another source of treatment, be it religion or acupuncture. On another note, in my opinion, i think the diagnosis for mental illnesses or disorders are too lose. Yes i believe that major schizophrenics and depressives exist, but not by that extent in numbers. Psychiatrist are also too lenient in giving away medication, i believe a simple CBT should suffice.

The sources of “mental illness” are nutritional and environmental health. Maybe if our food wasn’t contaminated with pesticides or heated into oblivion before consumption, or consisting of deadly animal products, or laced with refined sugar, we’d finally discover the simplest and most effective solution to “mental illness.”

Did it ever occur to anyone that these “disorders” are simply responses to understimulating environments and poor nutrition? Of course, the pharmaceutical companies don’t mind the bullshit.

I’m sorry , but I do have a clue . People live their lives bothering nobody and get labled mentally ill. Instantly their life has changed , and they have done nothing. But then the newly labled mentally ill comes to accept this and becomes dependent on the system.
Powerless and treated like an object.

Well they arent a bunch of whiners and losers, your state of mind can get pretty fucked up. Maybe it isnt a physical illness that can be tested for but it still can get pretty ugly. I don’t think modern psychiatry has the answers for it, you have to get over it by winning the mental battle. I know because Ive been through it myself. You have to realize that what you’re experiencing isn’t real and your thoughts are misguided. But a lot of people suffer badly until they can reach that point.

People become labled mantally ill. Get virtually tossed in a system that does not care if you actually get well .because they don’t think people can . Their just there to cash in .
Mentally ill have virtually no human rights , they get abused, mistreated and they’ve done nothing. The lable mentally ill is the modern day, witch hunt.
